Top Meadow Farms, Proud to be World's First - 0157:H7 E.coli Vaccine

Clarksburg, ON - September 21, 2007 Top Meadow Farms is please to announce that it is now the world's first commercial beef farm operation to purchase and incorporate the new Bioniche 0157:H7 E.coli "on farm food safety vaccine."

Continuing to strive for excellence in quality and innovation in the beef industry Top Meadow Farms is adopting the new E.coli vaccine as part of it Artisan Beef Program - which currently raises and suppliers beef to Canadian consumers without antibiotics or growth hormones.

"At Top Meadow Farms, we feel strongly that consumers want their beef to come from farms with the highest standards for quality, animal husbandry and food safety." says Top Meadow Farms owner Kym Anthony.

E. coli bacteria live in the intestines of human and animals and cause no disease. However, the 0157:H7 strain, often carried without harm in cattle, release toxins that can cause sever illness in humans - ranging from diarrhea to severe kidney damage and even death.

"We're pleased to be the world's first beef producer to incorporate this latest tool in the fight against E. coli 0157:H7. We are implementing the vaccine into our Artisan Beef Program because of our desire to have confidence in food safety." says Mr. Anthony.
