Calf Purchases
The success of this program relies on solid partnerships with calf producers having top cowherds of various breeds. The unifying theme is the use of Top Meadow bulls and the genetics they represent. Not only does the program require top quality calves, but also the calves must come from conscientious producers who will ensure the cattle meet program requirements. Our beef program undergoes third-party and CFIA audits, which audits all stages of beef production, including our calf producer partners. This means that reliable feed, vaccination, health and identification records must be maintained. The name "Artisan" was chosen for its identification with craftsmanship. The craftsman�s care, control and attention to detail are what make our program unique. |
The Certified Artisan Beef program is one of the premiere beef programs found anywhere. The genetics represented by Top Meadow bulls form the foundation for a unique closed system of producing beef. Top Meadow Farms is producing beef raised without antibiotics (including rumensin), growth hormones, animal proteins or bone meal. The result is a consistent, high quality beef product in demand by today's discerning consumers. Currently the Top Meadow Farms Certified Artisan Beef program, which was one of the first "method of production claim" programs developed by a Canadian producer, meets the labelling requirements of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Label Registration Unit, for its claim that CAB product is "raised without antibiotics, growth hormones, animal proteins or bone meal."
