The reference sires used and the cow families underpinning our genetic base are the finest that we can find anywhere in the world. Complimenting the pedigree planning is over ten years of a disciplined ultrasound program. This program allows us to guide our breeding selections to emphasize certain carcass features, including rib-eye and marbling, meat yield, back fat, etc., all of which are transmitted by sires and dams to offspring. Over the last thirteen years, Top Meadow Farms has developed a unique herd of Limousin and LimFlex cattle. Red and black, purebred and fullblood, Limousin and LimFlex cattle roam our pastures. We have carefully selected the finest in full French genetics and woven these pedigrees into the best North American bloodlines. The result is North American structure (excellence in feet and legs, depth of body, udder quality, polled red and black) with muscling and a freshness in pedigrees not easily found anywhere. The resulting seedstock are animals that fit today’s requirements for commercial and purebred operations alike. Top Meadow Farms bulls are masculine, rugged bulls ready for breeding. The importance of these bulls is highlighted in the Certified Artisan Beef Program (CABP). The feeder cattle which form the CABP are largely sired by Top Meadow Farms genetics. The performance of these feeder cattle is dependent on the genetics of Top Meadow Farms Bulls as well as a uniform and strictly controlled feeding regimen. Since no growth hormones or antibiotics are allowed, the feeder cattle truly must perform on their own merits. Similarly, consistent excellent performance "on the rail" starts with superior, consistent genetics.
